The Indiana Trojans use a multiple station practice strategy with a time limit on each station. To run an effective baseball practice, this strategy will keep your players in tune to this great game of baseball. Too many coaches just throw the players in the outfield and pitch batting practice. To keep the players attention, one must keep them active. Every practice should start with a proper warm up involving stretching, running, and getting their arms loose. Follow this with some long toss to build up arm strength. After the arms get loose, I suggest that coaches break up practice into stations to work on fielding (bunts, double play, pitcher covers first, etc.), batting (tee work, soft toss, medicine ball work, live hitting), and outfield (footwork, situations, cut-offs). With a limited baseball season in Indiana, the above strategy has worked very well for our organization. Our team has been very successful, compiling four consecutive winning seasons and winning several local and regional baseball tournaments. Help keep the game fun and energizing. www.indianatrojanbaseball.com |
